| To clarify the variety approval status, varietal characteristics, and development trends of wheat in Shaanxi Province, the numbers of approved varieties and their agronomic traits, disease resistance, and quality traits were analyzed based on information on nationally and provincially approved wheat varieties bred in Shaanxi Province from 2010 to 2024 and retrieved from the China Seed Industry Big Data Platform. The results showed that the main breeding institutions in Shaanxi Province were universities, accounting for 78.3% of nationally approved varieties and 46.2% of provincially approved varieties, followed by enterprises, accounting for 13.0% and 35.6%, respectively. The yield of approved varieties showed an upward trend, and resistance to stripe rust was relatively strong, with resistant varieties accounting for 70.5% of nationally approved varieties and 67.65% of provincially approved varieties; however, the proportion of varieties resistant to Fusarium head blight was low, accounting for 0% and 17.65%, respectively. Most varieties are classified as medium-gluten or below, and quality traits still receive insufficient attention in breeding, resulting in an unbalanced varietal structure. |
