To optimize the structure of apple varieties, mitigate market imbalances, and promote the sustainable development of the apple industry in the Old Course of the Yellow River Region, the Shangqiu Comprehensive Experimental Station of the National Apple Industrial Technology System conducted an introduction trial in the spring of 2019. Six apple varieties—‘Silken’,‘ Ambrosia’, ‘Envy’, ‘Mitchgla’, ‘Sinanogold’, and ‘Haruka’—were introduced, with the local variety ‘Changfu 2’ serving as the control. The study observed and analyzed the growth and fruiting characteristics, fruit economic traits, disease resistance, and environmental adaptability of the introduced varieties. The results showed that significant differences existed among the varieties in terms of fruit quality, growth and fruiting habits, and disease resistance. ‘Silken’, ‘Ambrosia’, ‘Envy’, and ‘Haruka’ demonstrated superior overall performance, making them suitable candidates for early- and mid-ripening apple cultivation in the Old Course of the Yellow River Region and similar climatic areas. In contrast, ‘Mitchgla’ and ‘Sinanogold’ exhibited susceptibility to apple anthracnose leaf blight, and their cultivation is recommended only on a limited scale. |
